2007 Suzuki SX4

Model Highlights

Suzuki debuts the SX4 for 2007, and it has a new 143-horsepower 2.0L DOHC four-cylinder engine hooked up to either a five-speed manual transmission or four-speed automatic. The standard all-wheel drive system features three different operating modes, each selectable with a center-console switch. 2WD mode sends the power to the front wheels, allowing maximum fuel economy; AWD Auto sends between zero and 50 percent of power to the rear wheels as needed; and AWD Lock sends between 30 and 50 percent of power to the rear wheels, for use at low speed in snow or mud. Suzuki says that the SX4's wide stance aids handling, and its suspension was tuned to be crisp and responsive. Anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution are standard. The interior has seating for five. The 60/40 split rear seats fold forward for larger cargo, and also tumble forward. Two trim levels are offered, SX4 and SX4 Sport. Standard equipment on the SX4, which starts at just under $15,000, includes remote keyless entry, air conditioning, 16-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, and power windows, locks, and mirrors. Two packages are available for the standard SX4: a Convenience Package adds cruise control and a leather steering wheel with integrated audio controls, while the Rally Package adds body cladding, a spoiler, a chrome exhaust tip, a sport shift knob, and an armrest to the Convenience Package. The top SX4 Sport model adds stability control, a keyless entry and start system, automatic climate control, fog lamps, heated mirrors, cruise control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. The SX4 includes a CD/MP3 sound system, while the Sport upgrades to a nine-speaker sound system with six-disc changer and subwoofer. XM Satellite Radio and iPod connectivity are available. All SX4s have six standard air bags, including front-occupant side-impact bags and side curtain bags that protect front and rear outboard occupants.
